Add Delay to a Web Channel

  • Updated

By default, scheduling in Resi includes a 90 second delay in order to buffer and provide a resilient stream for your broadcast. In rare cases, users may want to increase the time allotted for their broadcast to buffer.

This feature is intended for Resi users who have severely limited internet connections that prevent them from streaming normally with Resi. The steps below introduce a stream delay in live events at the web channel level, which only impacts the embedded web player and Stream URL destinations. Social destinations are not affected by Stream Delay and will not gain the benefit of the additional buffer. The delay is not reflected in the Studio scheduler–you will have to keep track of your delay and account for it when you schedule events.

  1. Navigate to the Web Channels page in Studio.
  2. Select the web channel to which you want to add the delay.
  3. Click the edit icon in the upper right.

  1. Drag the Stream Delay slider or input your desired delay into the text box. The stream delay can be set to a maximum of 10 minutes. The minimum delay is 1 minute 30 seconds (this is the default delay across all channels).
