Schedule a Replay Event

  • Updated

A replay event re-broadcasts the most recent content stored in a web channel to your viewers. When your viewers watch the event, they will experience it as live. Viewers won’t be able to scrub forward past what’s showing as live, but will be able to scrub backward and pause the video.

The video in a web channel that will be used in a replay event is designated by a Next Replay tag image5.png

The Replay feature in Studio replaces Control's Simulated-live (Sim-live) functionality.

Use the scheduler as you would to schedule out a live event except this time you’ll choose Replay as the content source. (To learn more about scheduling events, see Schedule an Event.)

Schedule a Replay Event

Just like a live event, you’ll schedule out a replay through your scheduler.

  1. Navigate to the Schedule page in Studio.
  2. Click Add Event.

  1. Give your replay event a name.
  2. Schedule the start date, start time, and duration of the replay.
  3. The timezone should automatically populate based on your IP address, but if it doesn’t, select it from the dropdown menu.

The Pause Event toggle will cause your event to not start as scheduled. Only use this if you want the event to not run at the time you’ve selected. You can edit the details and toggle it off to run the event at a later time.

  1. If you want to replay content as a daily, weekly, or monthly occurrence, enable the Repeats toggle.  If this is a one-time event, skip this step.

The replay content will always be the last broadcasted event in the associated web channel when the replay is scheduled to begin.

  1. Select how often the event repeats and choose when the schedule will end.
  2. Select Replay as the content source. The remaining settings for your replay event will be set per destination.

  1. Add your content destinations using the Add Destination button.
  2. The number of content destinations you can associate with an event is based on your organization’s live stream plan. You can add multiple destinations which are configured one at a time in the modal. Select a single event type, configure it, then click Add. To see more on adding to content destinations, see Schedule an Event, How to Stream to YouTube, and How to Stream to Facebook.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Your replay event will now appear on the schedule and be broadcast at that time.

Which Web Channel Has My Video?

When scheduling a replay event, you’ll need to choose the web channel that has the video you want.

If you’re creating a recurring replay schedule, use the web channel you’re using for your live broadcast or that’s storing your uploaded video. For example, if you want to replay a Sunday service every Monday, use the web channel that you’re using to stream your live service for your replay event.

  1. Navigate to Media > Web Videos.
  2. Hover over the video you want to replay and click it.
  3. The web channel the video is stored in will be at the bottom of the page.

Replay events will use the most recent web video broadcasted in a specific web channel. The video will display the Next Replay tag image5.png.
