Download or Share a Video

  • Updated

In Studio, you can download or share a download link for any of your library, web, or encoder videos.

You can download any library, encoder, or web video in its entirety or set cues to download just a section of it (Learn more). When encoder and web videos expire or you remove them, any generated download links associated with them will no longer work. With a  Content Library subscription, you can save videos permanently and generate persistent links to them.

You can also see the embed options for any video using the share icon. Clicking the share icon  causes a modal to appear that contains all the video's embed codes and standalone player.

There are two ways to download a video:

  • Download directly from Studio as an MP4 to your computer.
  • Generate a download link that you can share with anyone to download your content without giving them access to Studio.

Download links for web and encoder videos expire when the video expires and is removed from your media. Download links for library videos only expire when that content is removed from your library, making them a longer-lasting download option. Learn more about Resi's Content Library.

Share a Library Video

If you want to share a library video, use the share button. If the content you want to share doesn’t start at the beginning of the encoded video (e.g. if the first few minutes of the video are a countdown to a live event and you want to exclude it), you will need to create a cue and start the video from that cue. (Learn more)

Video Player Compatibility

Downloaded web videos will play back in most video players. However, you may encounter playback issues if the video is encoded with HEVC or uses more than two audio channels. In these cases, we recommend using the VLC media player.

If you are having problems playing a downloaded file correctly, updating your software to a newer version or ensuring that your software has full compatibility with ISO-14496-12 can help resolve the problem. This issue may be related to older softwares lack of support for ISO-14496-12 (fragmented MP4). Current versions of Adobe Premiere and ProPresenter should work.

Trim a Downloaded Video with Frame Accuracy

If you are using a device that is running on Mac OS 13 or later, you can easily trim your video once it has been downloaded. This process does not re-encode the video or audio of the selected file.

  1. Download your video from Studio using one of the aforementioned methods.
  2. Locate your video in Finder.
  3. Right-click on the file and select Quick Actions.
  4. Click on the Trim button.
  5. Click and drag the yellow bars on either side of the video timeline to select a beginning and endpoint for your video.
  6. Once you decide where you would like for your video to begin and end, click Done.
  7. You will be prompted to either save the video as a New Clip or to Replace the original file. Select your preferred option.
