Add Subtitles to a Web Event

  • Updated

Resi’s automated subtitles are a quick and easy way to make content more accessible to your audience. Automated subtitles use the W3C timed text standard, webVTT, and are built on top of Resi’s resilient streaming protocol (RSP), which makes our automated subtitles as resilient and worry-free as your video stream.

Automated subtitles work natively in any player that uses a Resi embed code or stream URL. This includes accessibility devices and software as well as your mobile app, television, and streaming devices.

Automated subtitles are not the same as automated closed captions, which transcribe sound descriptions of things like like background audio. If you would like to use closed captions in your broadcast, you can contact a signal integrator or your Resi customer success manager to discuss possible solutions.

Rebroadcast a Video With Subtitles

Subtitles are automatically available for events that have been broadcast in a web channel with subtitles enabled. If you want to add subtitles to videos in your media that originally did not have subtitles, you need to rebroadcast your event and save it again.

  1. Enable subtitles in the web channel where your video is stored.
  2. Navigate to the Schedule page.
  3. Schedule a new event using that web channel.
  4. Confirm your schedule.

When your event rebroadcasts, click the settings icon Screen_Shot_2022-08-11_at_3.49.19_PM.png on the player, and you'll see the subtitles menu where viewers can toggle subtitles on or off.
