How Do I Resolve Scheduling Conflicts?

  • Updated

When creating or editing a live event, attempting to save may create a scheduling conflict. While you can have multiple web destinations within the same event (provided you have concurrent web licenses added to your streaming plan), this error may be the result of trying to create two scheduled events that run on the same encoder or encoder channel.

If you do not have access to a second encoder and/or encoder channel, you can resolve your conflicting schedule in one of the following ways.

Change Your New Schedule Details

The easiest way to resolve a conflicting event is to change your new schedule details to make sure they do not conflict with your old event(s).

  1. Click the View more link in the error message to see details about the conflicting event.
  2. Click on the link with the name of the conflicting event to open the schedule details.
  3. Click the edit icon .

  1. Navigate to the Content Source tab and look for the schedule and encoder stream time.
  2. Take note of when your encoder starts (including the pre-event buffer time, which is only shown if you view the event details), stops, and which encoder channel is being used.
  3. Go back and create your new event again.
  4. Adjust the schedule settings to ensure that they do not fall within the conflicting timeframe.
  5. If necessary, make sure you have selected a different encoder channel.
  6. Adjust the encoder start time so that it starts outside the window of your other even’t runtime.
  7. Click Save.

Alternatively, you can change the original event details in the same way if you need your new event to run at a particular time.

Delete the Conflicting Event

If you do not need to keep the details of the previously scheduled event intact, you can edit or delete it in order to make way for your new schedule.

  1. Click the View more link in the error message to see details about the conflicting event.
  2. Click on the link with the name of the conflicting event to open the schedule details.
  3. Click on the options icon and select Remove.
  4. In the following confirmation window, click the Remove button.

Pausing a Repeating Scheduled Event

In some cases, you may have a repeating schedule that conflicts with a one-time event that your organization is broadcasting. You may decide that pausing your repeating scheduled event is the best course of action. However, attempting to unpause these events will result in a schedule conflict. In order to prevent this, use the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the Schedule page.
  2. Find the repeating event and click on it to see details.
  3. Click the edit icon .
  4. Click on the Details tab.
  5. Under Schedule, click the pause event toggle and make sure it is in the “on” position .
  6. Adjust the event start date to the next instance of the scheduled event (e.g. if your event is normally on Sunday, set the start date to next Sunday).
  7. Click Save.

When your one-time event has finished, make sure you go back and turn the pause event toggle back off.
